Platinum Care Group: Local roots, lasting impact
IN an age when many essential services are
delivered by large national providers, there is
something reassuring about a business that has
grown from local roots and remained true to
them.
Platinum Care Group is one such story. Founded 22 years ago by Joanne Barry, who grew up on
the Island, Platinum began with a simple aim: to
make lives better by providing compassionate,
reliable care to people in their own homes.
Since 2004, Platinum has grown steadily and
thoughtfully, earning its place as one of the south
coast’s largest independent care agency, which recently became an employee-owned business ensuring that in years to come the culture, mission
and ethos of the business remains as it always
has. There is no takeover from large corporates,
this business is family and employee-owned and
managed.
That growth has been built on consistency
and community connection. Today, Platinum
operates from five offices across the south coast
and employs more than 150 people. Despite its
scale, the organisation continues to prioritise a
local approach, with each office supporting its
surrounding area through dedicated local teams
who understand the needs of the communities
they serve.
This local focus is particularly evident in Hayling Island. After opening its newest office there
last year, Platinum has quickly become part of
the community. The strong Hayling team supports residents with day-to-day care and support,
enabling people to remain safe, independent and
comfortable in their own homes.
Beyond its core services, the Hayling office has
also created opportunities for connection. Initiatives such as February’s Three C’s – Coffee, Care
and Cake offer a welcoming space for clients and
members of the community to come together.
These informal gatherings provide more than
refreshments; they create opportunities to share
life stories and experiences, companionship and
support. It is not unusual for clients to pop into
the office simply for a chat over a cup of Ildi’s coffee, reflecting the approachable and open atmosphere the team has worked to establish.
Platinum’s presence also contributes to the local
economy. By employing over 15 caring individuals, mainly from the Island – the organisation
provides meaningful employment close to home.
Most carers and office staff live within the com-
munities they support, strengthening that sense
of shared commitment and responsibility.
The care sector has faced well-documented
challenges in recent years, including increased
demand and workforce pressures. Independent
providers like Platinum play an important role in
meeting those needs while maintaining flexibility
and a personal touch. Remaining independent
has allowed the organisation to adapt as it has
grown, while keeping decision-making rooted
locally rather than centrally driven from afar.
More than two decades on from its founding,
Platinum Care Group’s story is not simply one of
expansion, but of sustained community investment. From a locally established agency in 2004
to a major independent employer on the south
coast today, its journey reflects steady growth
built on trust.
For Hayling Island, the arrival of Platinum’s
newest office has added not just a care provider,
but an active and engaged local business.
With the continued support of residents and
clients, the Hayling team is helping to ensure that
quality care remains close to home — delivered
by people who are part of the community themselves.
