Hayling Herald Community update
Community Christmas Day Lunch
Owing to an error on the part of the Editor,
some important information was missed from
last month’s story on the Community Christmas
Lunch. Here it is again in full.
By Maggie Shelton
CHRISTMAS lunch was successfully done and
dusted for 2025, thanks to the generosity and
kindness of our caring and supportive Hayling
community.
A million thank yous to all the following for
making the day such a wonderful success.
For their generous financial support:

n Hayling Hardware
n Hayling Island Lions
n Hayling Property
n Julie Rodriguez, The Agency UK
For providing our venue:
n South Hayling United Reform Church
Thanks to our wonderful drop-off points, all of
30
whom provide so much more:
n Hayling Community Centre – also supplied
essential items needed in the kitchen.
n Hayling Property – also provided storage for
all our props.
n The Terracotta Pot and Gift Shop – who kindly
always provide a small gift for every guest.
n Enormous thanks also goes to Stanley’s High
Class Butchers.
Gary annually donates both a turkey and a
gammon. Plus he cooks, cuts and pre-packs all
the meat used on the day.
n For an incredible and completely unexpected supermarket sweep our own Tesco Express,
Hayling Island.
The following retailers and businesses for their
kind support in such difficult times:

Huge thanks to all the wonderful residents for
their kind and thoughtful donations.
Last, but most certainly not least, the amazing

day to ensure our guests enjoyed a magical time.
It wouldn’t be possible to deliver Christmas
lunch without your support.
Once again, my heartfelt thanks and gratitude
to everyone involved.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy and peaceful
2026.
