Hayling Herald
Dear readers,
HAVE you ever suffered the West Wittering traffic jams at the height of
summer? If you have, you’ll be absolutely delighted at the news about the
new Witterings ferry.
The young man behind the enterprise has many years of experience in
the sailing industry and spotted an opportunity – it’s surprising a ferry
service from Hayling to the Witterings wasn’t set up years ago.
In theory, it will mean walkers and cyclists can go all the way from
Warsash to Bosham without the need to drive. It will cut hours off
journeys. We wish Patrick all the best.
On page 38 you’ll find a great story about Islanders who will brave
the cold to sleep out overnight in aid of a charity that supports homeless
veterans. What a brilliant cause. Even if you can’t take part you can still
donate. They raised more than £1,000 last year.
There’s still time to make your opinion known on the proposals for the
merger of local authorities and the potential new Hayling Parish Council.
Turn to page 5 for more on that.
We hope that by the time you read this there has been a break in the
rain. Can the Island take any more?
Best wishes,
Elise and Jerry
