Pooch inspires children’s book
CREATIVE Chloe Menage wanted to
turn her hand to writing and, together
with her father Grahame, has created
two beautiful books for children.
Chloe Menage lives and works on Hayling Island where she designs and creates
beading patterns, kits and workshops to
share her joy of beadweaving.
Alongside this, she is also a writer.
Chloe said: ‘I’ve always wanted to write a
book, and over the past few years I’ve read
a lot of children’s stories to my own daughter at bedtime. I found myself pondering if
I had a story or two in me.
‘It turns out I had the perfect muse, with
a lovely little dog who found his way into
our lives.’
The books are inspired by local treasure,
Geoffrey, a much-loved miniature pinscher belonging to Chloe’s good friend and
local yoga teacher, Cate. As the books say,
‘Geoffrey is a little brown dog with one
eye and a very waggy tail.
He isn’t scared of anything. Well, almost
Call:
anything!’
As well as being a fun and adorable story
for younger readers, the books also aim to
share a message too, inspiring bravery and
teaching the responsibilities of pet ownership.
While Chloe wrote the words, the story
is brought to life with beautiful illustrations from Chloe’s father, Grahame Menage. Grahame is an artist and muralist,
originally from the UK but now residing
in Florida.
Chloe said: ‘It was really special collaborating on this project together and
I’m proud that we’ve been able to pull it
together even with the miles separating us.’
There are currently two books in the
series, but Chloe says she has a few more
up her sleeve. Perhaps Geoffrey will also
meet a unicorn.
Geoffrey and Geoffrey and the Chocolate
are available to purchase on Amazon as
well as from Chloe’s Etsy shop etsy.com/
