Hayling Herald Community update
Waterside Medical Practice
By Melanie Bryant Chair of the Waterside Patient Participation Group
WELCOME to what will hopefully be the first of a regular article prepared by The Waterside Medical Practice Patient Participation Group to
pass on useful information.
This month’s column is brief due to deadline day being upon us but next
month we will hopefully bring more useful information and advice including other recommended vaccinations as we approach the winter months.
The best way to find out anything about the Practice and the services it
provides, is to visit the website watersidemedicalpractice.co.uk
The main message for October is book your Flu and Covid vaccinations.
You will have been invited if you are entitled to one or both vaccinations,
and we would recommend you have them.
We are also in the process of re-launching the Patient Participation
Group (PPG).
The aim of the group is to promote and foster good relations between the
practice and patients, to act as advisers on communications between the
practice and patients and to work to improve services from a patient point
of view.
Membership of the PPG is available to all registered patients of the practice. To maintain effective functioning, the committee will be limited to 12
members and will endeavor to meet four times per year.
The PPG’s activities will be determined by the needs of the practice, its
patients, and the wider community.
More information is again available on the Practice website with a signup form or contact number to call and express an interest. If you are unable
to access the website please ask at the practice to be contacted regarding
joining the group.
For readers registered at The Elms Practice the website address is elmspracticehayling.nhs.uk
St Peter’s needs your help!
By Dieter Schlieben
HAYLING’S oldest and only Grade 1 listed
building, St Peter’s Church, will soon be 900
years old.
Situated in the picturesque village of
Northney, it is the spiritual and cultural
centre of North Hayling.
This ancient church with its beautifully
kept churchyard is being looked after by a
small but dedicated team of four.
Our volunteers can be seen on site on a
regular basis as there is always something
that needs doing. We like to strive for
perfection, which then makes it easier to
maintain. This model has worked well in
the past.
We are in need of help to enable us to
continue with the good work. We are not
looking for a monthly commitment, nor
do we have dedicated workdays. You could
lend a hand for a couple of hours as and
when it suits you. All help makes a difference.
For more information on how you can
join us, please email me at dschlieben@
outlook.com or phone 07840 572620.
